15th International exhibition of architecture and design ARCH Moscow and 2 Moscow Biennale Architecture have finished their work
22 602 people visited Central House of Artists from 26 till 30 May. The area of Exposition in 2010 amount to 11000 sq.m, the quantity of participants is over 210 including 34 foreign participants. Expositions from 14 countries were presented during Exhibition: Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Finland, France, Switzerland.
The space of Central House of Artists was divided into commercial booths of the companies-participants of exhibition ARCH Moscow and projects of 2nd Moscow Biennale Architecture. Projects of Biennale were united in 5 basic groups by curator Bart Goldhoorn:
1) «Modernization of Modernism» (reconstruction of residential and social buildings of the 1960s-70s) – 15 exhibition projects;
2) «Transforming the city» – 21 projects including 9 exhibitions devoted to Perm project;
3) «Perestroika city» – 4 social projects at the Hall of CHA (Ground floor);
4) «The Future Megalopolis» (3 expositions);
5) «Guest projects».
ARCH Moscow traditionally presented its exposition by sections «Architecture», «Exterior and Interior decisions», «Light in Architecture», «Details» and new section «Furniture Design». Within Arch Moscow was organized several special exhibition projects. Dupont company showed how it is possible to modernize panel buildings with the help of Corian. Magazine AD presented installation in honour of his guest, the American architect Peter Eisenman.
The Union of architects of Russia and the Union of architects of Moscow presented projects of the winners of young architects competition for «Perspective-2010» Award, and organized a separate lecture hall.
Separately jury noted special project ARCH Cafe made by several architectural bureau for magazine OBJEKT.
The huge target in the central part of exposition– the curatorial project of architects Vlad Savinkin and Vladimir Kuzmin executed for the company «Mir parketa», was most of all remembered to all visitors and the known architectural critic Grigory Revzin.
The lecture program included 100 events from business presentations to master classes of world stars of architecture on 5 areas for 5 days, the greatest interest attracted lecture by Peter Eisenman.
At the traditional annual round table Breakfast of Architect where topical themes are discussed, architects talked about «City consolidation», about recreating the morphology of the city with the historical line of street facades, the quays and boulevards. Interesting point of view was expressed by Vladimir Plotkin (architect of the year). Before houses were built «for centuries», now modern architecture does not imply eternity but basically «temporary» buildings with timing of their existence rapidly diminishing. That is why it is important that they remained the best and brightest examples of the era, creating a memory and the depth of the cultural perception of the city.
The Award ceremony of ARCH Moscow and 2nd Moscow Biennale Architecture on May 29 named Vladimir Plotkin as Architect of the year.
